April was a fun and busy month for us. We spent the beginning of the month finishing up our author study of Ezra Jack Keats. Then we spent a lot of time focusing on our addresses and our phone numbers. Your children addressed envelopes and we mailed notes to their homes. Hopefully you received these special letters in the mail. We will continue to practice these as the year goes. Please have your child practice their phone numbers on the "Cell Phone" they made earlier this month. Check out the picture of our "town" below. The class made replicas of their homes using shapes and we added the homes to the large map on our wall. Kids had a great time deciding where they wanted to live on our map and then noticing who their new "neighbors were. Ask your child where their home is on this map. This fun activity reinforces the concept of address and community.
April Fools Fun
On April 1st, I played a little trick on the class. I asked them if they wanted Brownies. Of course the answer was yes... When I gave them brown "E's" it was a little surprising. Most took it as a funny joke and were ready to try this trick at home with the brown E's I gave them. Maybe you were tricked by this too.
